The Dutch shipyard is renowned for building award-winning full-custom superyachts of the highest pedigree. Its delivery book includes iconic motor yachts including DAR, Bravo Eugenia and KAOS—measuring 90, 109 and 110 m respectively—and groundbreaking 107 m sailing yacht Black Pearl, among other pioneering builds. The new service aims to simplify the build process and shave around six to 12 months off the timeline without losing any of the quality Oceanco is famed for.
How it Works
The Simply Custom service offers endless design possibilities for owners, in partnership with leading designers and architects from around the world —with yachts starting at 80 m in length. Owners can work with designers to customise various elements, from layouts to interior details, and enjoy the process of creating something that is truly unique, and personal. You can let your imagination roam free.
For Simply Custom yachts, the technical foundations have already been created but can be tailored to an owner’s needs, from the inclusion of water sports facilities for the adventurous to smart-eco packages for the sustainability minded. Each yacht has also been designed with electrical propulsion and is set to be compatible with alternative renewable diesel fuels, futureproofing them for the industry’s eventual move away from diesel.
Oceanco collaborated with renowned studios and designers across the globe for the designs of the new line. In Monaco, Espen Øino International created a highly energy-efficient yacht known as Clarity that features unique elements such as large superstructure overhangs that supply shade while reducing interior heat gain —a win-win for energy consumption.
In the UK, Winch Design imagined Reverie, an innovative, nature-inspired yacht with a giant three-deck spa and wellness area; H2 Yacht Design penned Storm, a sleek yet aggressive design influenced by the Bentley coupe; and former Rolls-Royce chief designer Giles Taylor created Aeolus, an ode to the Greek god of the wind.
In Italy, Hot Lab crafted a sexy sporty vessel titled Superleggera 80 which brings the ambience of a penthouse apartment to the waves; and Enrico Gobbi of Team for Design created Silver Ocean, taking elements from aviation and automotive design. Looking further afield, Miami-based studio Luiz de Basto unveiled a striking concept with a “floating” structure known as Volare; while Dubai-based firm Bozca Limitless Design dreamt up Aurai, a powerful yet graceful superyacht inspired by the lines of a swordfish.
Owners will soon be able to select from a second wave of Simply Custom designs that are set to be unveiled in the near future and further push the limits of style and innovation.
Custom is King
From the layout and special features to materials and furnishings, every element of a Simply Custom yacht can be tailored to the owner’s lifestyle and tastes. Want a wellness spa with an infrared sauna and a snow room? No problem. Want a swimming pool that converts into a light-up dance floor? You’ve got it. Want a private owner’s deck with twin facilities? That’s doable. The sky is the limit when it comes to on-board amenities.
Likewise, exterior elements from decks and features (al fresco cinema for movies under the stars?) to hull colour can be adapted to ensure each yacht looks and feels totally bespoke, without the complexities of a build from scratch.
“We created Simply Custom because we saw there was a growing demand to build custom yachts in a new way,” says Paris Baloumis, group marketing director at Oceanco. “Owners still want the very best quality in their yachts, and to have something designed and built just for them. But many have less desire to focus on every detail in the process. They expect to entrust technical matters to experts like Oceanco and our partners.
