Hong Kong group The Peninsula Hotels’ outpost in the British capital is a base for a discreetly opulent stay—with the best of the city on your doorstep.
In the recent flux of openings across the British capital, few feel as assured as The Peninsula. It packs a distinctly British confidence—formal without stiffness, discreet without distance. Set between Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch, the new hotel sits among London’s most recognisable landmarks: yet stands out as a destination in its own right.
From the moment of arrival, the guest experience is controlled. Cars can pull into a private courtyard, meaning guests enter via a discreet, dedicated access point away from the public eye. Chauffeur-driven, Peninsula-branded Rolls-Royces and hybrid Bentleys handle transport across town, while back at the hotel service remains precise and understated, with flexible check-in and check-out and a digital concierge available for speedier consultations.

Outside, Hopkins Architects ensured the exterior harmonises with the neighbourhood’s listed architecture. Inside, interior designer Peter Marino has focused on light, proportion and material detail to achieve a residential atmosphere. Rooms and suites continue the theme, emulating private London apartments with floor-to- ceiling windows framing Wellington Arch and surrounding streets, and mahogany dressing rooms and tiger onyx bathrooms adding material richness. The two-to-four-bed private residences—a small handful still available to purchase, from around €17 million—offer a long-term option and reinforce the hotel’s residential sensibilities.

There are five main dining spaces: The Lobby for breakfast, all-day dining, and afternoon tea; Canton Blue, where chefs craft Cantonese dishes with maritime influences; Brooklands, on the upper floors, which offers contemporary British cooking with wide views and a late-running bar; plus Little Blue and the Peninsula Boutique & Café. Wellness facilities include a 25-metre indoor pool, a well-equipped fitness studio and a spa whose post-workout recovery creds are second to none.
For Monaco-based readers, The Peninsula London lands in familiar territory: assured service, a protected address and a level of finish that suits a long weekend away.
