Hotel of the Week: Fouquet’s New York Brings Cannes Sophistication to Tribeca

Fouquet’s New York

Missed Cannes Film Festival? Discover a place where French heritage meets film glamour in New York City.

The first thing that stands out about Fouquet’s New York is just how un-New York it feels. In contrast to the city’s buzz and urban grit, this Tribeca gem, arguably the hottest hotel in town since its opening in 2022, seeks to inject Parisian glamour into the Big Apple.

Fouquet’s New York thoughtfully revives French heritage through its design, culinary offerings and ambience. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the hotel features Art Deco-inspired interiors, with elements such as lavender toile de Jouy wallpaper depicting scenes that blend New York and Parisian motifs. The 97 guestrooms evoke the elegance of Parisian retreats, with quilted headboards, Art Deco-inflected furniture and grand European-style chandeliers.

Culinary experiences include Brasserie Fouquet’s, offering classic French dishes crafted by chef Pierre Gagnaire, and Par Ici Café, a vegetarian bistro emphasising locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, the Spa Diane Barrière offers a tranquil retreat, with treatments sourced from its Parisian partner Biologique Recherche. Together, these elements infuse finesse and culture into the hotel, providing guests with a taste of French luxury in New York City.

The hotel’s ultra-exclusive Cannes Cinema has unveiled a series of special movie nights, just in time for the Cannes Film Festival. Previously accessible only via private hire, the 66-seat screening room is now open to ticket holders for the very first time. Complete with a chic cocktail bar, gold-leaf ceiling, plush lounges, Art Deco carpeting, and original artwork, the theatre offers cinemagoers a glamorous experience reminiscent of the famous Riviera festival— dressing up optional. Screenings start from $110 (around €100) or $165 (€145) with a prix fixe dinner at Brasserie Fouquet’s, and up to $215 (€190) for special events.

Adding to its array of luxurious amenities, Fouquet’s New York features Le Vaux, a seasonal rooftop bar inspired by the French gardens of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles. The venue offers a serene escape with its lavender and green hues, transporting guests to a Parisian garden atop the eight-storey hotel. What’s more, it’s exclusively accessible to hotel guests and members, providing a tranquil haven away from the city’s hustle.

In a metropolis known for its iconic skyline and fast-paced energy, Fouquet’s New York offers peaceful respite that transports guests to the sophisticated charm of the French capital. Whether you’re indulging in a film or enjoying classic Gallic cuisine, the property proves that glamour isn’t solely reserved for Paris and the Côte d’Azur—it belongs in New York, too.
