Hotel of the Week: This Cap d’Antibes Hotel Captures the Essence of Riviera Glamour

Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel

Waterfront boutique property Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel invites you to relive the Hollywood glamour of the 1950s.

Few places capture the essence of Riviera glamour quite like the Cap d’Antibes. One of the most iconic enclaves on the Côte d’Azur, this sun-soaked peninsula has long seduced Hollywood’s elite. Directors Alfred Hitchcock and Jacques Deray chose its cinematic landscapes as the backdrop for their respective films To Catch a Thief and La Piscine.

When La Maison des Pêcheurs opened in 1954, it quickly became the dining destination of choice for silver-screen stars—both visiting and local— including Eddie Barclay, Brigitte Bardot and Johnny Hallyday. Now part of the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel, the Michelin-starred eatery—renamed Les Pêcheurs—continues to draw the well-heeled each summer—while the hotel has become a landmark in its own right.

A seasonal retreat open from April to October, the hotel reopened in 2023 following a spectacular renovation—an overhaul that earned it the prestigious 2024 Prix Versailles for the Most Beautiful Hotel in the World. Reimagined by Belgian architect Bernard Dubois, the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel draws on classic, modernist and postmodern influences to create what he describes as “both a tribute to modernist architecture and Mediterranean seaside houses”. The result is a space that’s equal parts calming and contemporary.

This boutique hideaway, from Chapitre Six, features 35 rooms and suites thoughtfully designed to evoke the nostalgia of Mediterranean holidays. Expect cool stone floors, pared-back yet elegant decor, custom-made furnishings, and private gardens or terraces with sweeping coastal views. The hotel’s crown jewel is the Le Cap Suite: a 66 m² sanctuary suspended above the water.

Guests can unwind on the hotel’s private beach, stroll through lush tropical gardens—where yoga sessions and massage treatments unfold in the sea breeze—or cool off in the infinity pool that looks out across the Mediterranean.

The hotel’s relaxed al fresco restaurant, BABA, serves vibrant Levantine cuisine from terrace to sun lounger all day long. As dusk settles, the tempo lifts with live entertainment and an atmospheric seaside energy. Conceived by acclaimed chef Assaf Granit, the venue is, in his words, “a joyful dance” between the spirit of Jerusalem and the coastal soul of Antibes.

Given the hotel’s star-studded legacy, there’s no better time to check in. And who knows—you might just spot a movie star or two.
