Private butler service, helicopter transfers and members-only perks; there’s good reason why Aman New York is the most exclusive address in Manhattan.
In a city well-known for its top-tier luxury offerings, it’s hard for a hotel to stand out from the crowd. Aman New York, however, is no ordinary five-star hotel. In fact, this majestic landmark buildingturned- polished-urban-oasis (it calls the iconic Crown Building, circa 1921, home) has been attracting only the most prominent movers and shakers since it opened its doors in 2022, and it’s easy to see why.
Despite being directly on the doorstep of Midtown Manhattan, Aman New York feels a world away. Buying guests the luxury of serenity and space—both a rarity in the Big Apple—this all-suite hotel (83 in total) offers some of the biggest rooms in the city, ranging from 67 m²–257 m², with tall ceilings that allow ample room to breathe. Each designed as a serene retreat, they are a masterclass in minimalist elegance, with calming neutral palettes, intricate woodwork and stone accents creating a Zenlike atmosphere. All suites also come equipped with working fireplaces, and are serviced by private butlers.
Then there’s the expansive spa and wellness space—something the Aman group is known to excel in. Its name doesn’t translate to ‘peace’ for no good reason, after all. Spread over three floors and centred around a 20-m-long indoor pool, the crème de la crème are the two spa houses (essentially spas within a spa), each boasting a double treatment room, marble steam room or wood-clad sauna, and private alfresco terrace with plunge pool.
These facilities can only be rented by guests or Aman members, with a $200,000 (around €181,000) initiation fee and $20,000 (€18,400) yearly cost for the latter.
With Aman’s well-heeled crowd expecting the highest level of everything, food, as to be expected, is certainly not an afterthought. Unlike other hotels that cater to a bustling lobby crowd, there’s a guestand- members-only restaurant, Arva, that serves seasonal Italian cuisine with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients away from the public eye; while its Japanese eatery Nama offers à la carte dinner and weekday lunch service. From Tuesday to Saturday, we recommend opting for the omakase experience at the intimate seven-seat hinoki wood counter—a must for an authentic dining experience championed by the three-Michelin-star Japanese chef at Aman Tokyo.
After-dinner entertainment can be found at the hotel’s slick Prohibition-style Jazz Club. While this intriguing, energy-filled venue is also open to the public, it can be reserved for private soirées.
Arriving at the hotel is a breeze, with private jets available to land at Teterboro Airport—just 45 minutes away by car—and a partnership with BLADE Urban Air Mobility meaning helicopter transfers can be easily arranged for those wishing to avoid traffic. Of course, such a high standard of luxury and privacy on NYC’s Billionaire’s Row comes at a healthy entry cost. But in terms of suite prices, Aman New York remains on par with other high-end properties in the city. And besides, as all HNWIs know, money can’s buy this level of class.
