Project Secret can be customised by its new owner before it is delivered in 2025.

You can now get a custom superyacht in a fraction of the time. Edmiston has just listed a new 51.5-metre yacht that is already under construction but can be customized inside and out by the new buyer. The significantly reduced build time means the owner will receive their one-off as soon as 2025. (For context, it takes an average of three to four years to build a fully custom superyacht.)

The aptly named Project Secret has been kept tightly under wraps—until now, that is. Originally commissioned by a private owner, the vessel is being built by Tankoa Yachts in Genoa, Italy. For the unversed, the boutique Italian shipyard turns out custom and semi-custom cruisers, such as Grey and Go.

French designer Philippe Briand was enlisted for the exterior, while Italian firm FM Architettura was chosen for the interior. The owner tasked the design team with creating a “floating beach house.” In addition, Willem van Cappellen, a specialist in yacht acoustics, was brought on board to ensure the vessel accentuated “the sounds of the sea.” The new owner can, of course, make changes, but the existing design is already quite impressive. “It’s a beautiful Philipe Briand design, from his Vitruvius collection, with a very nice layout,” Tankoa CEO Vincenzo Poerio told Robb Report.

A striking floating staircase on the main deck allows guests to navigate the spacious living quarters. The layout includes generous cabins for 12 guests and nine crew, with the full-beam owner’s suite distinguished by a push-button sea terrace. The versatile foredeck features a large sun pad, a spa, and an entertainment area, while the aft is home to an epic beach club, a gym, and a wellness area with an infrared sauna. To top it off, the swim platform is adorned with a pool and sunbeds for waterside relaxation.

As for grunt, Project Secret will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system that offers greater fuel efficiency than diesel engines alone. The yacht can cruise at 10 knots in full-electric mode or use the batteries to power the hotel load silently for eight to 12 hours. “It’s different from other systems in that the two 300 kW electric motors are in line with the main engines, so it’s more compact and efficient than other hybrid systems,” Poerio adds. Tankoa is well-versed in progressive green technologies, delivering multiple hybrids to date.
