At the weekend, the world’s marine elite set sail for Sardinia for the 2025 edition of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta. Here’s a look inside the world’s most styling sailing event.

Mention ‘Giorgio Armani’ and ‘superyacht’ in the same sentence, and you know it’s bound to be something extraordinary. The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta is undoubtedly one of the most stylish and eagerly anticipated events on the global sailing calendar. Much like the Monaco Grand Prix attracts the world’s elite motor enthusiasts, this annual regatta draws impeccably dressed spectators, top-tier teams, and the most passionate yacht owners in their droves. And the yachts themselves are truly the crème de la crème.

This year, the regatta was held in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) serving as the base, where guests enjoyed exceptional hospitality as yachts from renowned builders such as Southern Wind and Nautor Swan competed along the island’s stunning coastline.

Following a spectacular weekend of sailing — marked by both stunning conditions and a few challenges — the winner in the prestigious Superyacht class as the Swan 115 Moat, owned by YCCS member Juan Ball. “Everything went perfectly for us and, of course, we’re thrilled to have secured another victory,” says Ball. “The boat was immaculately prepared and the crew executed every manoeuvre with precision. As always, Porto Cervo proved to be an exceptional venue for racing, and with the flawless organisation of the YCCS and the support of Giorgio Armani, it’s a truly perfect combination.”

In a fiercely contested Corinthian Spirit class, the SW 94 Magic Blue, owned by YCCS member Tonino Cacace, claimed the day’s win, beating the SW 108 Gelliceaux by 2 minutes and 50 seconds on corrected time. Third place went to Grande Orazio. Despite the result, Gelliceaux secured overall victory, with Magic Blue taking second on the podium thanks to her day-two performance.

“This is a truly wonderful event,” says the yacht’s owner. “The sailing area is the best in the Mediterranean. We had quite challenging conditions, great on the first day and then very light winds on the following days. This was our first event, we are still coming together as a team, but we’re progressing. A few hiccups in the final race made the overall victory even more rewarding, albeit by a smaller margin than we might have hoped for.”

For those already counting down to the next Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, the sailing season at YCCS is far from over. The next event on the calendar is The Nations League – Swan One Design Worlds, taking place from 17 to 21 June, promising another spectacular showcase of world-class racing in Porto Cervo’s beautiful waters.
