Car of the Year 2025: Ferrari Roma Spider

Ferrari Roma Spider

The final verdict is in! Blistering speed, astounding beauty, supreme comfort, state-of-the-art tech, undiluted enjoyment—these are the automobiles that wowed our esteemed panel of experts.

Ferrari Roma Spider

The Ferrari Roma has long been branded the “baby Ferrari”, albeit a little unfairly in our eyes. While there’s no denying it’s the entry point to Prancing Horse ownership for many, the little GT car packs a mighty punch with its 456 kW twin-turbo V8.

With enough power to launch the small sports car from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and on to a top speed just shy of 320 km/h, the Roma is a dynamic package that was made even better by the arrival of the drop-top Spider.

“The Ferrari Roma Spider brings the concept of la dolce vita into the modern era,” says the marque, which believes its pretty grand tourer perfectly captures the essence of “the sweet life”. And our group of judges found that opinion particularly hard to argue with when driving it along the roads overlooking the Principality, with views out across the Mediterranean Sea.

With its petit proportions, the Roma was already one of the most attractive modern Ferraris and the Spider is no exception. Instead of being styled to shout about its sporting prowess, the Roma’s elegant looks are comparatively reserved. Going head-to-head with the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage Volante, due later this year, there’s tough competition on the horizon, but for now, the Roma is the winner when it comes to fun, top-down driving.
