Discover how this year’s event will lead a visionary focus on sustainability and innovation
On August 30th, TEDxForteDeiMarmi will once again transform the Augustus Beach Club into a hub of thought leadership, addressing global challenges under the theme “Beyond the Horizon.” As the only TEDx event hosted entirely on the beach, this edition offers a distinctive platform where sustainability and future trends will be explored against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean coast.
The event will be preceded by the Gala del Forte on August 29th, an exclusive gathering designed to bring together leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators from diverse sectors such as yachting, design, fashion, and environmentalism. This evening will serve as a fertile ground for networking and the exchange of ideas, fostering collaborations aimed at driving progress across these industries.
What is TEDx?
TEDx events are independently organized gatherings that emulate the TED experience, featuring live talks of up to 15 minutes. These events are designed to spark dialogue and promote the exchange of ideas among attendees. While adhering to TED’s guidelines, each TEDx event operates independently, offering a unique flavor and focus.

Building on Last Year’s Success
The inaugural TEDxForteDeiMarmi set a global precedent by being the first TEDx event to spotlight the intersection of yachting and sustainability. Among the key speakers, insights from the Water Revolution Foundation’s sustainability workshop at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 were shared, sparking a conversation around Philippe Briand’s provocative question: “What should be the new reason to buy the next boat?”
The presentation showcased the innovative integration of aerospace technologies into sustainable yachting practices, as highlighted at the Superyacht Design Festival 2023 in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Projects like the “Project Zero Vessel” underscored the potential of these technologies to revolutionize the industry.
The talk also traced the historical significance of yachting’s collaboration with aerospace, from the 1992 Moscow Yachting Club’s preparation of “The Age of Russia” at the Energia Space Center to Oracle Team USA’s partnership with Boeing for the 34th America’s Cup and American Magic’s collaboration with Airbus for the 35th edition. Recent advancements by the INEOS Britannia team, along with innovative vessels like Candela’s foiling boat and Artemis Technologies’ commercial vessel, were also highlighted.
The speaker underscored the broad impact of aerospace technology by recommending a visit to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and discussed Baglietto Yachts’ #Bzero project, which aims to introduce hydrogen as a sustainable energy source for yachts. The talk concluded with an exploration of the “green premium” concept for decarbonization, as described by Bill Gates, and introduced the idea of “volumetric cost” in yachting to accommodate sustainable technologies.
