From the Editor: Introducing the 2024 Dream Machines Edition

CEO & Publisher Karl-Henry Edström takes us inside the second annual Dream Machines issue of Robb Report Monaco & Côte d’Azur.

On the gilded streets we’re fortunate enough to call home, it’s impossible to go about one’s daily business without your senses being bombarded—in the most pleasant, life-affirming way—by an endless procession of the world’s greatest machines.

In and around Monaco’s aquamarine waters, palatial megayachts teeming with the sharpest of cutting-edge technologies cruise majestically. On the roads, gorgeous, physics-defying hypercars purr along storied boulevards, eager to be let off their leashes. In the air, private aircraft and helicopters soar at various altitudes above and below the clouds, appointed with the kind of luxurious fabrics found in the chicest designer properties. And on our wrists, bands of precious metal gleam under the Mediterranean sunlight, their dials concealing some of the most delicate yet most sophisticated micro-engineering humankind has ever mustered (unless, of course, skeletonisation is your thing—which is a whole other layer of ingenuity). Here in the Principality, we are, without doubt, blessed.

In recognition of our auspicious lives, I’d like to welcome you to one of our biggest editions of the year—the Dream Machines issue. We’ve scoured the lands, seas, skies and horology boutiques, to bring you the best products, from the planet’s most innovative players, in one specially curated package.

Almost as if it was written in the stars, this issue coincides with the Monaco Yacht Show, the most thrilling yachting event of the year, during which yacht owners, enthusiasts, brokerages, shipyards and charter experts make a beeline for our little piece of paradise. To celebrate, our yachting editor Rachel Ingram has compiled an extensive guide to the most exciting, trail-blazing yachts that will be sailing into Port Hercules for this annual nautical jamboree.

Knowing watches are as technologically advanced, and as beautiful, as any yacht or exotic car, our watch editor Elizabeth Doerr has selected three mini-machines that can rightfully be considered as masterpieces in their own right. And which dream machine is more amazing than the human body, a living, breathing contraption that’s capable of accomplishing the most miraculous feats—even able to heal itself when severely compromised. We also reveal the progressive clinics and facilities leading the charge in the search for health, preservation and longevity.

After all, we want you all to be around for many, many decades to come. To keep on enjoying our issues. To keep on enjoying those precious machines.
