Billy Idol took to the stage for a memorable evening of support and song.

On Saturday 12 July, the Principality played host to one of the key fixtures in its summer calendar: the 76th Monaco Red Cross Gala. Held at the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo, the evening brought together dignitaries, long-standing supporters and distinguished guests in support of the Monaco Red Cross and its humanitarian work.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II, President of the Monaco Red Cross, and H.S.H. Princess Charlène, Vice-President, were in attendance to welcome guests and preside over a programme that was as thoughtful as it was celebratory. As in previous years, the gala was an occasion not only to raise funds but also to recognise the enduring commitment of those who support the organisation’s mission to assist the most vulnerable both in Monaco and abroad.

The evening began with a gala dinner prepared by Chef Thierry Saez Manzanares and the team at Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, served beneath the iconic retractable roof of the Salle des Étoiles.

Following dinner, a tombola offered five generous prizes donated by leading luxury brands. Hosted by prima ballerina Aurélie Dupont and journalist Harry Roselmack, the proceedings were joined by a traditional fireworks display — a nod to the festive spirit of the occasion.

In a gesture of artistic generosity, conceptual artist Bernar Venet donated Generative Angles Painting – Red 11 to the Monaco Red Cross.

The evening concluded with a concert by British rock musician Billy Idol. Known for his distinctive stage presence, Idol brought energy and added a dynamic element to the evening’s celebrations.

Since its founding in 1948 by Prince Louis II, the Monaco Red Cross has remained committed to its core principles of neutrality, impartiality and humanity. Under the leadership of Prince Albert II — who marked 40 years as President in 2022 — the organisation continues to provide essential assistance in times of crisis and need.

This year’s gala, while understated in tone, was a clear reminder of the value placed on community, generosity and quiet dedication to helping others. As ever, Monaco demonstrated that style and substance can comfortably go hand in hand.
