Château de La Messardière is one of several places that will be featured in the next installment.
The Côte d’Azur is about to experience the White Lotus effect. Season 4 of the wildly popular HBO series will take place in the opulent Saint-Tropez, with filming set to begin at the end of April. One spot in particular that will play host to a new slew of affluent characters and staff (and all their snarky, addictive drama) is Château de La Messardière, Variety reported.
Located just outside of St. Tropez, the 19th-century chateau-turned-luxury hotel definitely fits the bill as a location for the next season of the series. It has been upping the ante as of late, hopping on the trend of properties trying to keep their travelers happy by offering the crème de la crème of activities and entertainment. Set within 32 acres of cypress trees, jasmine, and other lush fauna, the grand chateau offers up 86 rooms and suites, a private beach club with direct beach access, two pools, and a mini farm. It even has a tiny train to pick up the children of guests. (We can imagine a scene just around that.)
Hotels featured in The White Lotus (and other films and TV series) are now soaring in popularity, as some travelers plan their vacations around dreamy on-screen destinations, a phenomenon known as set-jetting. Season 3 of the series, for example, partly took place at Thailand’s Koh Samui Resort; as a result, online searches for the hotel increased by a whopping 40 percent. Château de La Messardière will likely see a similar boost once Season 4 officially drops.
It was rumored early last year that The White Lotus’s next installment could be filmed in Europe, marking the series’s return to the continent following Season 2’s venture in Sicily. As with other seasons, the latest installment will spotlight multiple destinations. Scenes will take place in a few spots dotted along the French Riviera, as well as a Paris hotel, according to Variety.
Plot-wise, essentially nothing has been revealed about Season 4, though the show will once again follow affluent guests and staff on a week-long stay, HBO confirmed. Rumors say the Cannes Film Festival may even reportedly feature in the show. The cast, meanwhile, is still being fleshed out, with auditions currently taking place, according to Variety. So far, only two actors have been confirmed to be hitting our TVs: Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. As for who will be joining them in the Côte d’Azur, we’ll have to wait and see.
