With snow falling across the Alps, there’s still time to make the most of the 2025 ski season. Chalet Sarcleret, designed by Nicole Salvesen of Salvesen Graham Designs, brings quintessential English country charm to the French Alps. Robb Report takes a look inside this uniquely cosy escape.
Morzine is not short of luxury chalets, but Chalet Sarcleret is a standout with its high-design take on traditional mountain elegance. Promising the perfect blend of alpine luxury and English-country-home charm, acclaimed design studio Salvesen Graham has recently renovated the entire property with a cosy yet refined touch, complete with plush fabrics, warm tones and carefully selected antiques that create an inviting atmosphere you may never want to leave.
“Chalet Sarcleret is different to the usual chalet in the area. I wanted it to be really cosy,” says Nicole Salvesen, co-founder of Salvesen Graham Designs. “I’ve been told it feels like me because of the the layering and all the textures and lots of patterns – that’s the recipe of our studio. If you went to another Salvesen Graham interior, it might be completely different but it would have that same feel.”

Chalet Sarcleret, which was purchased by Nicole and her husband and reopened for private hire in 2023, takes its name from the word for a traditional farming tool – and tradition is what underpins the striking lodge’s design. Wooden architecture adds a flavour of Rocky Mountains prairie, while character is created through colourful prints and fabrics that are combined with bold, retro features and pretty, cottage florals.
The highly curated chalet has already been luring in the style set with its highly Instagrammable interiors. Picture cosy patterned sofas covered in patchwork throws, a roaring fireplace surrounded with tiles, a beautiful wooden table for communal dining and cosy bedrooms decorated with wallpaper patterns that extend across the walls, ceiling and lampshades.
Rooms sleep 16 and come in the form of six charming en-suite bedrooms plus a sizeable bunk room for up to six children, who you’ll most likely find hanging out in the downstairs private cinema room after a day on the mountain. Adults might prefer to retire to the outdoor hot tub which, hidden in the grounds, provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

During the winter season, Chalet Sarcleret is run by local service Alikats. It is fully catered, with a private chef preparing exquisite meals best enjoyed around the top floor’s open-plan kitchen and dining area, which boasts sweeping vistas of the Pointe de Nyon mountain. Guests are well looked after with chefs preparing a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day, an afternoon tea spread to greet you back from the slopes, and restaurant-quality three-course dinners.
There’s also a chauffeur on hand to whisk you into town or to your ski lift of choice – the chalet is a short drive from both Avoriaz and Morzine resorts – meaning you’ll never have to lift a finger during your stay.
