Check into Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris, for a wonderful winter break on the Left Bank—savour seasonal menus and festive treats, surrounded by the best of the city’s culture.
Paris is irresistible in winter—and nowhere captures the mood better than Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, a storied address in Saint-Germaindes- Prés and the only hotel on the Left Bank to be awarded the prestigious “Palace” distinction. Opened in 1910 and long a meeting place for writers, artists and designers, the Lutetia bridges Art Nouveau curves with early Art Deco geometry. Sensitively restored by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the hotel reopened in 2018. Today, under Mandarin Oriental’s helm, the Lutetia channels its century-old spirit with luxurious modernity— an ideal base for a city break amid the bookshops, galleries and the Bon Marché across the boulevard, while the Luxembourg Gardens, Louvre and Musée d’Orsay and are just a stroll away.

This Christmas, in the year the hotel marks its 115th anniversary “in the spirit of the lights of Paris”, there are plenty of seasonal treats on offer. Make time for a limited-edition Afternoon Tea beneath Le Saint- Germain’s glass roof and feast on an indulgent spread of black truffle egg cocotte, lobster roll, foie gras, chestnutlychee Mont-Blanc and the signature “Lulu” marshmallow. Served every weekend from November 22th-January 4th and on Fridays throughout December, from €85 per person or €105 with a glass of Champagne.
The Mandarin Oriental Lutetia is a food lover’s hotspot in December. Executive chef Patrick Charvet offers a refined à la carte on December 24th and 25th, with dishes including Granville scallops with buckwheat and miso foie gras and lobster with sorrel, squash and chanterelles. On New Year’s Eve, Brasserie Lutetia serves a celebratory five-course menu at €280 (excluding drinks), while Le Saint-Germain has a festive à la carte. And to finish off the night Bar Josephine hosts a chic late-night set with DJ until late.

Adding to the seasonal atmosphere, pastry chef Nicolas Guercio unveils the Bûche Lumière, a playful centrepiece for eight (€115). His brioche feuilletée Galette des Rois arrives in a cork case with a hidden “Lulu” charm, also serving eight (€85). Both can be preordered via the online boutique—pieces of Left Bank theatre to take home.
Make some time to visit the Akasha Spa, the hotel’s holistic wellness space. This serene, light-bathed sanctuary features a large pool, sauna, hammam, hot tub and a state-of-the-art gym—complemented by exclusive treatments that leave you feeling your best.
