The Red Sea is one of the most exciting new tourism destinations for luxury travellers. Among the new openings set to reinvent Saudi Arabia’s Ummahat Islands is the hotly anticipated St. Regis Red Sea Resort. Located on a pristine private island accessible by boat or seaplane, the exclusive resort offers a collection of 90 spacious beachfront and overwater villas, each with a private pool and personalised service from the iconic St Regis butlers. British heritage meets Raffles glamour in one of London’s most historic addresses. This anticipated new hotel resides in the former Old War Office headquarters in Whitehall, which has been renovated to an exceptional standard. Guests can choose between simple and elegant rooms and suites, or opt for the more atmospheric themed suites located in various parts of the building, including the turrets and former drawing rooms where Britain’s military leaders held meetings during the Second World War. Set in the heart of the Eternal City’s so-called Golden Triangle, this impressive new opening is steeped in history. Taking over the former Seat of the Central Bank of Italy—a landmark 7,500sqm building on Parliament Square dating to 1914—the hotel maintains the original facade while breathing fresh life into its storied walls. Slated to open in spring, the hotel will feature 60 sophisticated rooms and suites, a luxurious subterranean spa and several enticing restaurants and cocktail bars overseen by Vicenza-born chef Calo Cracco. From the light-filled central courtyard to the rooftop lounge affording panoramic views of Rome’s leading sights, guests can discover world-class design that taps into the heritage of the building and location, paired with luxurious hospitality in the signature style of the Corinthia group.

Among the most impressive new openings is The Lana, Dorchester Collection’s first hotel in the Middle East, where the difference is in the details. Towering over the growing Business Bay area, the hotel offers stunning rooms and suites designed by French duo Gilles & Boissier, who were inspired by the spirit of Dubai. Contemporary and traditional touches flow throughout the sophisticated property, which is home to six dining outlets including Riviera, where star chef Jean Imbert serves Mediterranean flavours, and Jara where 12-Michelin starred chef Martín Berasategui presents the best of the Basque Country. Opening in the autumn, this new property is set to elevate luxury hospitality in the heart of Bangkok. Nestled in the tropical gardens of the historic Nai Lert Park, the 36-storey all-suite sanctuary will tower over the bustling city, creating an urban oasis for distinguished guests. The vision of Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the hotel will balance contemporary design with touches inspired by the park’s heritage. Guests can select from 52 elegant suites of various sizes and enjoy an incredible infinity pool, an Omakase restaurant, a teppanyaki restaurant, a jazz bar, and a signature Italian eatery. The property, Aman’s first urban Thailand hotel, will also be home to the Aman Residences featuring 50 apartments and an Aman Club inspired by the recent success of Aman New York.

Best suite: the Presidential Suite—on the 18th floor, this suite has a grand entrance foyer, outdoor terraces, a private cinema room and a flexible arrangement of one to three bedrooms.
