Editor’s Letter: Travel Edition 2025

Introducing the anticipated Robb Report Monaco & Côte d’Azur Travel issue—out now across Monaco and the Riviera.

Considering the sheer breadth of homegrown delights that cluster seductively on our own doorstep, in theory it would be easy for the average Monaco and Côte d’Azur dweller to simply never leave the Riviera—to live guiltlessly in a paradisiacal bubble that flaunts beaches to rival those on tropical atolls, hosts world-class restaurants serving cuisine from every colourful corner of the globe, and lays on hotels capable of out-glamouring properties from the buzziest metropolises. If you choose, every orange-tinged Mediterranean dawn could herald a new adventure.

In reality, Monaco residents are some of the most well-travelled and adventurous people on the planet, who never need an excuse to drop the top on the supercar, slip the anchor on the superyacht, or ascend the steps of the private jet—heading towards bespoke, hyper-personalised horizons that go some way to defining the “new luxury”. Wanderlust, of the finest vintage, is coded into our very DNA.

The trouble with travel, especially in the healthily stocked candy store that is modern upscale exploration, is how to pick your favourite holiday bonbon. Chilled-out beach idyll? Rugged, far-flung exploration? Cosmopolitan city indulgence? Handily, with the travel-focused issue you hold in your hands, we have done most of the leg work for you.

As the travel industry continues to evolve at breakneck speed, carving out niches from niches, we shine a light on the luxury trends capturing the zeitgeist (page 79), from set-jetting (here’s looking at you, The White Lotus addicts) and racketeering to coolcationing and noctourism. And yes, they are as intriguing as their epithets suggest.

If you’re lured by the buzzy, shiny-new-tile vibrancy of hotel debutants, we have assembled a list of this year’s premier door openings (page 109), courtesy of both storied brand names and stealthier young guns of the hospitality scene, spanning locations such as Kyoto, Dubai, Queenstown in New Zealand, and New York.

Of course, once you’ve decided on the location, your choice of chariot? To that end, we’ve curated, in cahoots with Monaco-based superyacht brokerage Moravia Yachting, a collection of elite charter vessels—built and designed with the emphasis on pleasure and fun times—that one can either use to bounce from destination to destination, or for purely sea-based frolics (page 100).

If you prefer to get from A to B through clouds rather than waves, aviation giants Cessna and Bombardier have chosen 2025 to launch a suite of luxurious updates and take some giant technological strides (page 138). And those of a roving bent can hop between some of Africa’s most iconic destinations by private jet on a trip that the Roar Africa company bills as “The Greatest Safari on Earth” (page 94).

No matter where you go, or how you get there, this year is shaping up to be a golden one for travel. You don’t need to have a black, diamond-necklaced puma in tow like the model on our cover; all you require is imagination, spirit, bravery, style. But as we’ve already established, the nomadic tribe of Monaco and the Côte d’Azur have already that covered. Enjoy the issue.

Enjoy the issue.
