Sunreef and BRABUS Unveil a 40-Knot Foiling Catamaran

The 17-metre BRABUS ULTIMA 55 brings the German marque’s supercar aesthetic to a high-performance multihull designed for fast weekends on the water.

A new high-performance catamaran is bringing BRABUS’s unmistakable styling to the Mediterranean. Created with Sunreef Yachts, the 17-metre BRABUS ULTIMA 55 combines the proportions of a multihull with the pace and personality associated with the German marque.

BRABUS has applied its distinctive design language across the automotive and marine worlds, but the ULTIMA 55 takes the company into a new category: a foiling catamaran designed for days spent moving between Mediterranean anchorages.

Outdoor living is placed at the centre of the experience. At the stern, folding side platforms open out to create a much broader terrace at the water’s edge. Adjustable sunpads can be converted into settees, while an extendable carbon-fibre table provides a setting for lunch or evening drinks on deck.

A wet bar and electric barbecue make it easy to serve food and drinks without leaving the main social area. A separate sunpad at the bow offers another place to relax when under way or at anchor.

The BRABUS influence is clearest inside. Moonstone leather with the marque’s signature triangle stitching covers the seats and sofas. Alcantara lines the ceiling, with exposed carbon fibre used across the helm and interior detailing. Adjustable ambient lighting changes the atmosphere after dark, while a large television retracts into the countertop when it is not in use. A Bowers & Wilkins sound system and fully equipped galley complete the saloon.

Part of the appeal is the sensation of foiling. Familiar from America’s Cup racing, the technology uses underwater foils to generate lift as the yacht gathers speed, raising the hulls higher above the surface. On the ULTIMA 55, this creates the comfortable, almost floating-through-air feeling of skimming across the water as the yacht accelerates past 40 knots.

Owners can choose between two accommodation layouts. One pairs a master suite with a VIP cabin for four guests, while the second provides three guest cabins for up to six. Both include separate accommodation for one crew member.

Finished in Graphite Black or optional Phantom Grey, the ULTIMA 55 carries the visual identity of a BRABUS supercar into a yacht created for Mediterranean weekends on the water.
