Our sunny shores are the inspiration for Heesen’s spectacular new superyacht, Project Monte-Carlo.
The incredible destination we call home has been the inspiration for many movies over the decades, but now Monaco is being mirrored in superyacht form by Dutch yacht builder Heesen. The leading shipyard gives a nod to the Principality with its newest design, Project Monte-Carlo, unveiled at September’s Monaco Yacht Show.
The 62 m steel superyacht showcases a daring design that’s one of the shipyard’s most ambitious to date. Across four spacious decks designed to maximise connectivity between the yacht’s elegant indoor and outdoor living spaces, it reflects the outdoor lifestyle enjoyed by the citizens of Monaco.
Designed by British studio Harrison Eidsgaard, the four-deck yacht is one of the largest by volume ever conceived by the yard. Created in response to a growing need for more space from owners who wish to spend increased time on board with family and friends, the yacht’s decks flow into each other through a considered network of staircases and layouts that enable you to see all the way through the yacht, retaining a sense of intimacy despite the larger-than-average dimensions.
This ethos of seamless connectivity continues in the interior, particularly in the open-plan owner’s suite which occupies the entire bridge deck. The master features a private terrace, a lavish full-beam bedroom, a spacious office and a bathroom with standalone tub that are interconnected. This deck can be customised to suit the future owner’s needs, perhaps with the addition of a sun deck with its own hot tub or a fold-down balcony off the private office.
Other key interior spaces include four guest cabins and a VIP suite on the main deck, and a wellness area on the lower deck with potential for a large gym, sauna, hammam, and massage or beauty room.
Just as life in Monaco is centred around the coastline, the yacht is designed to enhance the guests’ connection with the sea. This is best seen in the beach club, featuring fold-out wings that invite guests to relax over the waves, and a large pool with glass sides that give the impression of swimming in the sea. There’s also a sky lounge with a hidden screen for al fresco movie nights, an outdoor kitchen and a firepit observation lounge for cosy nights and stargazing.
Project Monte-Carlo is currently in concept form and awaiting an owner’s commission, but with the base of the design already supplied, there’s production time to be saved— around six months, we’re told—while there’s still plenty of opportunity for bespoke customisation. For an owner seeking a yacht to serve as an extension of their Monaco lifestyle, Project Monte-Carlo could be the ideal floating home from home.
