Monaco Meets Dubai: Polo Xperience and Big Art Festival Unite for a Night of Sport and Style

The Big Art Festival’s next stop is Dubai—with a distinctly Monegasque twist—as it teams up with the Monegasque Polo Team for afternoon polo and an evening of world-class entertainment.

Dubai is set to host a distinctly Monegasque moment on 21 November, as the Polo Xperience by Monte-Carlo Polo Team unfolds at Al Habtoor Polo Club for The Legacy Cup. The day will celebrate the spirit of sport and sophistication before the evening transitions into a glamorous finale — the Big Art Festival gala at the newly opened Billionaire Dubai, located within the Mandarin Oriental Downtown.

For readers in the Principality, the story begins at home. Founded in 2012 by Captain Rommy Gianni, the Monte-Carlo Polo Team has long flown Monaco’s flag across the sport’s most prestigious events, from charity fixtures to a hat-trick of Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz titles. Their Dubai fixture sees them face the Mahra Polo Team, with guest arrivals from 3pm and the first throw-in at 3.30pm; aperitivo and a DJ set follow from 5.30pm, with the prize-giving at 8pm.

Gianni’s connection to the emirate runs deep: “My first visit to Dubai was in 1996, when I was graciously invited by the Al Habtoor family to join them for a polo event. Little did I know then that it would mark the beginning of a long-lasting friendship and a shared passion that continues to this day,” says Rommy Gianni, president of Monte-Carlo Polo Federation and captain of the Monte-Carlo Polo Team. “I am truly looking forward to reuniting with the Al Habtoor brothers and our partner Big Art Festival, playing at their club, and hosting a special event where we can come together to celebrate our love for polo alongside family, friends, and esteemed guests.”

If the afternoon is about sporting elegance, the evening promises theatre. The Big Art Festival—an original concept by Berin Iglesias Art—hosts the official gala dinner at Billionaire Dubai, pairing refined cuisine with immersive performances and a headline set by Zivert, the pop star behind the chart-topping Life.

“We are truly excited about this collaboration between The Legacy Cup by Polo Xperience and the BIG Art Festival here in Dubai,” says Maxim Berin, president of Berin Iglesias Art and founder of the Big Art Festival. “It marks not only a significant partnership but also the beginning of a new chapter at this remarkable new Billionaire venue, created for a world-class audience. This event promises to be outstanding, unforgettable, and a milestone in bringing together sport, art, and luxury lifestyle on an unprecedented scale.”

It’s set to be a meeting of two capitals of style: Monaco’s polished sporting tradition meeting Dubai’s appetite for spectacle. For those plotting a winter escape, The Legacy Cup offers a civilised way to begin the season—polo under the desert sun, then dinner and a show that runs late into the night.
