Following a meticulous renovation, the historic wine cellars beneath Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo reopen with renewed grandeur— and an exclusive private club for connoisseurs of fine wine.
Ten metres beneath the glamour of Place du Casino, an extraordinary transformation has taken place. After a major two-year renovation, the legendary wine cellars of Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo—Les Caves—have reopened, blending heritage and modernity in an elegant tribute to the Principality’s refined way of life.
Originally created in 1874 by Marie Blanc—the visionary co-founder of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer—these cellars have long been a symbol of Monaco’s discreet luxury. Now, following a sensitive restoration by Parisian design house Moinard Bétaille and Monegasque architect Gabriel Viora, the 1,500 m² subterranean space has been reimagined as a sanctuary for collectors.

Inaugurated on June 11th by HSH Prince Albert II, the cellars pay homage to their founding figure with the creation of the Marie Blanc Reserve. The vault is now home to some of the world’s rarest bottles, including 19th-century Cognacs and wartime vintages of Mouton-Rothschild and Petrus.
Alongside private tours and curated tasting experiences, the relaunch introduces Le Cercle des Caves de l’Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo—an invitation-only club for serious wine connoisseurs. Members enjoy rare access to the cellars’ finest vintages, exclusive events with leading winemakers, and the guidance of Patrice Frank, the Group’s esteemed head sommelier.
The setting itself is a marvel: soft lighting and natural materials such as stone and woodwork create a timeless atmosphere that nods to the past, while inviting a new generation of enthusiasts. As Stéphane Valeri, chairman and CEO of Monte-Carlo SBM, put it, “There are places where magic works with such intensity that they leave unforgettable memories.” Les Caves, it seems, is one of them.
