From helicopters and long-range flagships to a new generation of midsize business jets, today’s aircraft owners are choosing the right aircraft for every journey.
Walk through the hangars at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and you’ll notice something interesting. Parked side by side are aircraft built for entirely different purposes. An ultra-long-range jet awaits its next transatlantic departure. A helicopter is preparing to shuttle guests between Monaco and a yacht at anchor off Cap Ferrat. Nearby, a midsize business jet is readied for a weekend flight to Porto Cervo. But these aircraft aren’t owned by different people; they’re owned by the same person.
Much like a serious collector doesn’t rely on a single watch or sports car, today’s travellers are building aviation portfolios around a variety of purposes. The largest jet in the hangar may remain the flagship, reserved for journeys to New York, Dubai or Singapore, but many owners are complementing it with aircraft tailored to regional travel.
For Monaco, the concept makes particular sense. Life here rarely revolves around a single destination. It might begin with breakfast in the Principality before a business meeting in London, continue with a weekend aboard a yacht in Sardinia and end with a few days on the Amalfi Coast, or Courchevel in winter. For these journeys, convenience, airport access and the ability to move effortlessly around Europe can matter as much as ultimate range.
This has brought fresh attention to the midsize business jet, which occupies its own role within a broader collection. Spacious cabins, advanced connectivity and refined interiors are combined with the flexibility to operate from a wide range of airports, making the category particularly well suited to Europe’s short- and medium-haul routes.

Textron Aviation’s new Cessna Citation Ascend has arrived at the right moment. Having entered service in December 2025, it reflects the growing importance of the midsize segment for owners whose travel is centred on Europe. The Citation Ascend combines comfortable standard seating for nine passengers, with a flat-floor cabin, larger windows and quiet cabin technology, bringing greater space, light and comfort to the journey.
The redesigned interior adds electric releases to its swivelling seats, generous baggage space and optional onboard connectivity, making it equally suited to business trips and long weekends away. A wireless cabin-management system allows travellers to adjust the lighting, temperature, window shades and entertainment from their seats. The Citation Ascend lets customers do more—making the sky their competitive edge.
For many owners, the greatest luxury is no longer having one aircraft capable of everything. It is having the right aircraft waiting for whatever comes next.
