Katharina List-Nagl, CEO of F/LIST, is redefining luxury by blending heritage craftsmanship with forward-thinking innovation.
At the helm of F/LIST, Katharina List-Nagl leads one of Austria’s most quietly influential family businesses—a company that has spent more than 75 years shaping the interiors of the world’s most exclusive private jets, superyachts and residences. Working alongside world-class manufacturers, F/LIST has built a reputation as a trusted partner at the highest level of luxury. Now, as third-generation CEO, List- Nagl is guiding the business into a new era, building on its heritage of craftsmanship while redefining its role for the future.
When looking forward, List-Nagl speaks less about products than she does about questions. The most important one, she believes, is not what the company makes, but who it is making it for. “We have to ask ourselves who is going to be our customer in the future, and what they are going to want?” she says. The clients of tomorrow, she explains, will not necessarily behave like those of the past. “They might have different attitudes, different requirements; they might not want to own an asset, but maybe use it,” List-Nagl continues, pointing to changes already visible in sectors like private aviation. “This shift in behaviour is something we need to deal with; that’s what I’m taking care of.”
That future-facing mindset defines List-Nagl’s leadership, even as the business remains rooted in a deeply traditional foundation. She is quick to acknowledge what she inherited: “An incredible foundation of craftsmanship and people with a lot of passion”.

The company, which her father once described as “a treasure”, dates back to 1950, when her grandfather founded a small joinery in post-war Europe with just seven employees. More than seven decades on, its defining legacy remains central, despite a twentyfold increase in scale, a global team of more than 1,200 employees and expansion across aviation, yachting and residential interiors. “What I took over from my dad was the culture, the spirit and the values,” List-Nagl says. “He created the roots—and I make sure the tree can grow in every direction.”
It’s a philosophy she sums up as simply: “Keeping the feet on the ground but reaching for the stars.” This balance between heritage and change is most visible in how she defines the company’s ambition. The aim is not simply to produce interiors, she says, but to reposition the business. “My goal is to really become the protagonist for luxury interiors, whether private homes, yachts or jets,” she says.
That ambition extends beyond the company itself to the assets it works on. “It’s about not only preserving those luxury assets, but also keeping their legacy and bringing them into the future,” she says.
List-Nagl’s response has been to create space for both delivery and reinvention. Internally, the business operates across two “playgrounds”: one focused on delivering high-end interiors across aviation, yachting and private homes, the other—F/ LAB—dedicated to R&D, design, artificial intelligence and new business models. “We’re questioning the status quo in every possible respect,” she says. “If we stay a producing company, we’re not going to be future proof. I need to be innovative; I need to have something that others don’t have.” This forward-thinking approach is reflected in her leadership style.

Since taking over in 2017, List-Nagl has moved away from the traditional top-down model that defined earlier decades. “My father was the pioneer—the leader telling everybody what to do,” she says. “I lead by vision and give my team the freedom to get there. I want people to fly—because the moment they are successful, I am.”
That people-first strategy extends to clients, where her ambition is to become a trusted partner, offering a “361-degree” partnership. “The extra degree,” she says, “is everything else we can do for them. We’re building the kind of trust where they can call us whenever they need support.”
It is a perspective shaped by the past but firmly oriented toward the future—one that positions F/LIST not just as a maker of luxury interiors, but as the sector’s principal player.
