This Elegant Perini Navi Sailing Yacht was Made for Slow Mediterranean Summers

From an array of water toys to serene sun-drenched decks, Perseus strikes the perfect balance between adventure and elegance.

When it comes to indulgent escapes, there’s really nothing quite like the allure of a superyacht charter. Equal parts glamour, freedom and adventure, they offer the rare chance to disconnect from everyday life while waking up somewhere entirely new each morning—from hidden coves and sleepy fishing villages to impossibly blue bays accessible only by sea. And while sprawling motor yachts may dominate the headlines, there’s something infinitely more romantic about doing it all under sail.

Sailing yachts bring with them a slower kind of luxury. There’s the silence of cutting through the water powered only by the wind, the elegance of towering masts against the horizon, and the undeniable nostalgia that comes with a style of travel rooted in craftsmanship and seamanship rather than excess. Which is exactly where Perseus comes in.

Recently refitted in 2021, having been built by the Perini Navi shipyard in 2001, Perseus is the epitome of barefoot sophistication. Defined by a sleek monochrome exterior—all graceful lines and chic contemporary detailing—this 49.9 metre beauty is as striking on the inside as she is on the out, which is all thanks to celebrated French designer Christian Liaigre, who worked his minimalist yet elegant aesthetic magic across her two decks. An impressive nod to the world of understated luxury, expect natural materials, exquisite craftsmanship and a calming palette of soft neutrals that come complemented by grained wood panelling. The result? A serene floating retreat that feels worlds away from everyday life.

Thankfully there’s plenty of space on board Perseus for the entire family and then some, with five luxe cabins sleeping up to 10 guests. This includes a full-beam master suite complete with en-suite bathroom and a private adjoining office for when emails inevitably beckon, while elsewhere two doubles and two twins are just as inviting in their own right.

As to be expected, the yacht’s social areas are equally impressive—the main salon comes bathed in natural light thanks to her huge windows, which open up to bring the outside in for al fresco dining with uninterrupted sea views. Expect plenty of shaded dining areas too for when guests are seeking respite from the midday sun.

That said, most guests will gravitate to the water, of course, and thankfully Perseus delivers in spades with an impressive array of water sports equipment including two jet-skis, two SeaBobs, two Jetsurfs, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and a selection of towable inflatables and water-skis. And that’s before we even get started on the pair of William Jet Diesel tenders that ensure seamless transfers and exciting excursions to secluded anchorages. There are nine experienced crew on board too, ensuring every detail is taken care of from morning espressos to sunset cocktails.

“Persus stands apart because she offers the rare combination of true sailing pedigree, generous volume and an atmosphere that feels genuinely timeless,” says Harrison MacManus, Yacht Broker at Cecil Wright. “As a 50m Perini Navi, she carries the unmistakable presence of one of the most respected names in large sailing yachts, with the scale and comfort expected by today’s charter guests.”

“Persus is best suited to guests who value experience over spectacle. She will appeal to families, couples and groups of friends who want a refined, relaxed and atmospheric charter,” he adds. “She is particularly well suited to guests who enjoy being close to the sea, she can offer extremely to ‘weekend’ sailing—swimming off the yacht, long lunches at anchor, island-hopping, relaxed dinners on deck and the possibility of real sailing between destinations. She is also ideal for charterers who appreciate classic design, craftsmanship and the romance of a yacht with genuine soul.”

Available for charter through Cecil Wright Yachts, Perseus is offered from €185,000 per week during low season and €205,000 per week in high season.
