The designer’s space-inspired edition of Monaco’s most storied charity ball brought a futuristic twist to a long-standing social highlight.
Monaco’s social calendar reached one of its defining moments on Saturday, March 21, with the return of the Bal de la Rose (The Rose Ball) at the Salle des Étoiles, Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. Under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and presided over by H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover, this year’s edition was imagined by Christian Louboutin, who reinterpreted the traditional spring ball through a futuristic lens.
The 2026 theme, Galaxy Rose, took guests on a conceptual journey into space. Inspired by an experimental project involving a “Princesse de Monaco” rose sent into orbit, the evening was designed as a kind of interstellar voyage, complete with spaceship-inspired staging and a monochrome shuttle setting inside the Salle des Étoiles.

On arrival, guests passed through a “boarding corridor” before entering a transformed dining room, where mirrored tables, suspended floral installations and lighting inspired by flying saucers created a deliberately otherworldly atmosphere.
As always, the evening combined spectacle with philanthropy. The Bal de la Rose remains a key fundraising event for the Princess Grace Foundation, which supports humanitarian and cultural projects, particularly those benefiting children.
Dinner was followed by a multi-part show featuring a mix of international performers, from the baroque-pop ensemble Rondò Veneziano to dancers from Crazy Horse Paris, alongside live music and DJ sets that carried the evening late into the night.

A charity raffle, hosted by Stéphane Bern, offered prizes from leading luxury houses including Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton, alongside exclusive stays within Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer’s portfolio.
First established in 1954, the Bal de la Rose has long marked the start of Monaco’s spring season. Each year, a new theme reimagines the setting, but its purpose remains unchanged: bringing together the Principality’s international community in support of the Princess Grace Foundation.
