The Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer announces the launch of the Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie, an exclusive event celebrating global excellence in jewellery craftsmanship and creativity.
On 25 October 2025, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) will inaugurate the Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie (GPHJ)—a new international initiative dedicated to the art and culture of fine jewellery. Held within the Salle des Étoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo, the event is set to convene a curated assembly of the world’s leading jewellery maisons, private collectors, and gemstone-producing nations for an evening devoted to craftsmanship, creativity, and heritage.
Envisioned as a contemporary homage to the traditions and innovation of haute joaillerie, the GPHJ aims to provide a platform that reflects both the depth of artisanal skill and the evolving expressions of jewellery as a cultural and creative force. This first edition seeks not merely to showcase beauty, but to encourage critical dialogue and appreciation for the artistry that defines the discipline.
The initiative is co-founded by Stéphane Valeri, Managing Director of SBM, and Jean-Philippe Braud, President of Profirst France and Director of the event. Their shared ambition is to create a reference point within the international luxury calendar—one that is not merely celebratory, but also reflective.
Stéphane Valeri, Managing Director of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) Group – Co-founder of the GPHJ, says: “The Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie is fully aligned with our strategy of bringing together the world’s leading luxury players within our Resort. For 162 years, we have upheld this promise, blending heritage with innovation—and this event will be yet another illustration of that commitment.”
Jean-Philippe Braud, Co-founder and Director of the GPHJ, says: “This project was born from a simple observation: high jewellery, as a major art of luxury, deserved its own summit. With the support of the most prestigious Maisons, an exceptional jury, and a unique setting, we’ve created the ideal conditions to establish the Grand Prix as a must-attend event on the international high jewellery calendar.”

For one evening, the Salle des Étoiles will become a setting for discovery and recognition. The audience—comprising collectors, discerning amateurs, and curious admirers—will be introduced to the individuals who bring the world of high jewellery to life. Among them will be creative directors and muses from the great jewellery maisons, renowned families preserving rare artisanal traditions, and master artisans whose hands give form to precious materials. The event will also welcome delegates from gem-producing nations across Africa and Asia, emerging designers, cultural embassies, philanthropic patrons, and key decision-makers from the international luxury sector.
At the centre of the evening’s programme will be the presentation of eight awards, judged by a distinguished panel led by Fabienne Reybaud, a noted journalist and recognised voice in the world of contemporary high jewellery.
Fabienne Reybaud, Grand Reporter – President of the Jury, says: “This Grand Prix is, above all, a celebration: a recognition of excellence in jewellery in all its dimensions. It offers an international stage to those who envision, cut, set, and dare. It will highlight new expressions of luxury, while always honouring the foundations upon which it stands.”
The GPHJ will not limit itself to aesthetics alone. It aspires to foster broader industry dialogue—engaging with questions around ethics, sustainability, and the future of craft. Issues such as the traceability of gemstones, ecological responsibility in sourcing and production, and the transmission of savoir-faire to future generations will be addressed through the event’s platform.
In launching this new initiative, SBM reaffirms its long-standing commitment to excellence, not only within hospitality and entertainment, but also within the broader context of cultural and artistic patronage. The Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie offers Monaco a new avenue through which to assert its role in shaping a considered, thoughtful, and globally relevant luxury narrative.
